05: Guests! Guests! And More Guests!

So May was a crazy month. First, Byron and Abby came to visit, then we went out to the archipelago with Ida, and then we had a couple more guests come through.

05/23:

Oli made the best decision of his life to study at UW, where he got his Master's degree along with me in structural engineering. After his studies, he moved to Copenhagen where his fabulous girlfriend Charlotte is from. I met up with him a couple times while I lived in Lund, but he and Charlotte decided to come and see Stockholm for the weekend.
Courtney and I had been in the archipelago for their first couple of days, but I met up with them for an afternoon. Knowing that Icelanders and Danes would be prowling around the streets of Stockholm, the city put up an impressive display of force.
and then we all had dinner together and went out for some drinks.


It was really great to see him and trade notes on who we keep in touch with, and who's doing what and sadly ... who's unemployed right now. I think we were both happy to have stable positions with job security out her in the socialist paradise of Scandinavia.

05/24-30:

After that short time with some old friends, Courtney had her best pal Laura come visit for the week. Unfortunately I couldn't take time off, so most of the most blog worthy stuff occurred while I was cooped up in my office during Stockholm's only stretch of warm weather in this young summer of ours. But we did have one hell of a week of drinking, I can tell you that much! Here we are at one of our favorite places to get our Swedish food fix; Kvarnens (Hammarby FC 4 Life!).
We (along with Pär and Ylva of course) introduced our guests to our newest past time: Cap Racing (TM)!
If that wasn't enough boozin', later in the week we invited the crew over for a party followed by heading out to the bars. Ylva's face says it all!
Sadly, all good things must come to an end and Chad and Laura had to head back to the U.S. the next morning. I groggily woke up, said my goodbyes, and then passed out again as Courtney took them off to the train station.
