04/08-13: Kitri Back in STHLM

04/08:

After a couple of work days for me and a couple of days of exploration in what remains of The Empire, Kitri returned to resume her Swedish vacation.

04/09:

After another day at the office, Kitri and I celebrated the weekend by joining some of my co-workers out for a happy hour. We went to one of my personal favorite bars, Akkurat, which has a great selection of beers, including more than a few tasty American brews. Pat came and joined the celebration.

We had planned on going to one of my favorite touristy restaurants, Kvarnen, however we found ourselves enjoying ourselves at the pub so we ended up cancelling our reservations and later in the evening opted for a more fancy option: McDonalds (which serves beer!!!).
After our burgers from the Golden Seagull (as my friend Mats describes it) we headed to the infamous medieval pub for some mead in a festive atmosphere. Finally, our wallets lighter and our brains heavier we headed home.

04/10:

Sadly Kitri had terrible luck with the weather. Her luck didn’t change on her first Stockholm Saturday. However, we tried to make the most of the day. We headed out to a few of my crappy weather highlights: the Stockholm library,
the Östermalm Saluhall (where we picked up some fancy cheeses),
and we went and had coffee and cake at the quaint Sturekatten café (not my photo).
After all was said and done we rushed back home where we prepared a meal (Pork with an apple glaze and apple stuffing) for usual suspects: Björn, Ulrika, Pär and Pat.

We enjoyed some grub and some food and plenty of wine and snaps. So much so, that things got a little weird …
Some however weren’t so excited:

04/11:

Sunday I was determined to get out of town. We had a few options on our plate but because of a late start I decided to take her out to Uppsala.

We decided to grab a quick bite of fast food (we ate a ridiculous amount of fast food in her time here, not exactly sure why). The first thing we noticed was that it was flooded with a bunch of oddly dressed young kids. After several hours, and several sightings of people dressed as various Pokemon and Nintendo characters we finally deduced that there was an anime convention.

Thankfully the beautiful weather made up for the general unsightliness of the odd nerds:

Uppsala Castle:

As you can tell from the pink color scheme, it isn’t the most intimidating fortress out there.

While we were waiting for our train we snuck a peak at the new convention center which is certainly impressive:

04/12-13:

Kitri’s last full day she spent at the outdoor museum Skansen. The evening ended with some take out Thai and some chillaxing in front of the tube. Kitri then elected to stay up all night since her flight was ridiculously early before taking a cab to the airport, thus ending her European adventure.
