So to counteract the seasonal depression, the cities here tend to do a good job of putting up a bunch of Christmas lights to liven up the downtown areas.
We hosted a Christmas party at our flat complete with Glögg (mulled wine), hot cider (the Doepker Xmas staple), cookies (Courtesy of Courtney's recipes), and this beautiful tree that we found ditched from some Christmas past.
The Domkyrka
December 13th is St. Lucia Day. It's a big deal here, which is odd because Sweden is Protestant, and doesn't celebrate any other saint's days to the best of my knowledge. The holiday is celebrated by waking up super early followed by a breakfast with traditional foods and carols performed by people holding candles. The person in the center with the candle wreath around her head is I believe supposed to symbolize St. Lucia.
While I was walking around town there just happened to be a parade of snowmen and reindeer. Yep, a typical day in Sweden.

As a lot of students were here for only a semester, the last week was filled with big parties. I went with Evan and some of my French friends (Loic and Charles) to a particularly large one. The party was huge, and all of us got separated at various times. Finally, at one point we couldn't find Loic, we looked all over the place until we found him in this closet. The photo doesn't do this justice because it was absolutely pitch black in here.
